KOICA complements bilateral grant projects through international organization cooperation projects, and participates in the efforts to fight the global issues.
Overview
International organization cooperation project refers to the cooperation between KOICA and international organizations to collaborate in resolving global issues such as economic and social development, humanitarian assistance and food security, climate change and human rights of target countries.
History
2006
Signed an agreement on the cooperation between Korea-UNDP and began hosting regular conferences
2007
Established a mid-term strategy for multilateral aid based on 2008-2010 Official Development Assistance (ODA) mid-term strategies (2nd Committee for International Development Cooperation)
2008
Became an official member of MOPAN (Multilateral Organization Performance Assessment Network) and began participating in the joint evaluation of international organizations
2009
Signed an agreement on Korea-UNDP MDG trust fundsSigned an agreement on the cooperation between Korea-UNICEF
2013
Conducted a relevancy assessment of KOICA's major multilateral cooperation organizations and researched on the operating system of multilateral cooperationStarted dispatching KOICA Multilateral Cooperation Officer (KMCO)
2014
Prepared the bylaws and guideline (draft) related to international organization cooperation projects
2015
Signed an agreement on the cooperation between Korea-WFP and began hosting regular conferencesAppointed the chair nation of MOPAN (served as 2016 Chair starting in 2015)
