The Project for the Establishment of Advanced Traffic Management System in Asuncion, Paraguay (2013-2015 / 5.49 million USD)KOICA contributes to building an efficient management system equipped with advanced technology that creates a pleasant and stable city
Awareness-building on 'traffic control' and 20-minute reduction during rush hours
With the cooperation of Asuncion, the capital city of Paraguay, KOICA put its effort to mitigate massive traffic jams and reduce environment pollution caused by the geographical factors, the rapid rise in population and the increased number of vehicles in the city; the project was implemented for 3 years from 2013 to 2015.
What we do
Strengthening traffic process capabilities by establishing traffic control system
With KOICA's financial assistance amounting to 5.49 million USD, the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) was established and the concept of "management of traffic flow" was introduced. Also, the traffic management capacity of Asuncion significantly improved as advanced traffic lights were installed at necessary locations.
Asuncion ATMS and traffic lights on streets were proven effective since their launch in April 2015; and despite the increase of inner-city traffic, rush hour that typically caused about 1 hour, was reduced to 40 minutes, providing a tangible outcome of reduced traffic jams.
