KOICA Tunisia Office Attends <Tunisian Customs : Transparency and Integrity>, 3rd Campaign to Raise Anti-Corruption Awareness in the Customs Sector
On July 23, 2019, the UNDP and the Tunisian National Anti-Corruption Agency (INLUCC) held a campaign event at La Goulette to raise awareness of anti-corruption in the customs sector. In 2016, the Tunisian government established the 2016-2020 National Strategy of Good Governance and Anti-Corruption , which prioritizes on strengthening the government's accountability and transparency in the sectors of customs, health, domestic security and local government. This was the third anti-corruption awareness campaign held after 2017 to secure civil trust and promote transparency in customs services.
At the event, Tunisia customs was acknowledged for their voluntary efforts in the fight against corruption. Their efforts included the installation of 84 security cameras, the development of three mobile apps for efficient and transparent administration, the installation of portable cameras by customs officials, and training of 2,000 personnel through three anti-corruption training sessions.
KOICA is currently working with the UNDP to strengthen Tunisia's anti-corruption activities and promote the participation of civil society in democratic governance and public accountability. In this anti-corruption awareness campaign, KOICA Tunisia office introduced current projects in Tunisia, including those that support various anti-corruption activities with partnership with the Tunisian government, such as the TUNEPS, E-People and online e-learning systems.
