Nuwakot project aims to recover one of the most distorted regions from the earthquake in 2015. KOICA is constructing district hospital, 10 health posts, supporting medical facilities, and enhancing health information system of Nuwakot District. KOICA partners with UNDP, GNI and GIZ for implementing various activities of this project. Through this project KOICA targets for resilient public health environment of Nuwakot much better than before.
This project supports Nepali government in implementing health insurance program by sharing Korea’s knowledge in health insurance, capacity development of concerned stakeholders. Along with this KOICA is carrying out various activities to increase enrollment in the scheme mainly in Kailali District. In addition, KOICA is implementing awareness programs in many Districts.
This project aims to improve Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) system in Mugu district by strengthening health facilities and services. KOICA targets to increase the access to health care services of local people with the spirit of living no one behind by enhancing the MNCH programs and by improving the infrastructure and capacity of care providers. In addition, KOICA attempts to disseminate appropriate knowledge among community members including parents, families, and caregivers to practice proper behavior starting from the home.
The project is being implemented mainly in 3 pillars, basic infrastructure, conditional infrastructure and locally initiated projects under the philosophy of SAEMAUL UNDONG (new village movement of Korea). Most importantly, the project is focused on enhancing the participation of local community in deciding their own development activities. The project is contributing in promoting the ‘can do spirit’ of local people. KOICA aims to develop successful model of community driven development, which can be replicated in other parts of the country. This project is being implemented within 13 wards (in total) of 4 Rural Municipalities (Sarawal, Pratppur, Palhinandan and Susta) and 2 Municipalities (Sunawal and Mahyabindu) of Nawalparasi District.
This project aims to contribute to the integrated rural development of Nepal by strengthening R&D capacity. With the understanding rural development is one of the keys to boosting the economy, KOICA is going to establish the R&D center at KU to develop business models with appropriate technology for rural and isolated regions. KOICA expects life statues as well as the income of households in rural and remote areas to be increased
This project aims to support small farmers by providing technical support through developing value chain of vegetables and fruits, which will possibly bring increased gross farm income. The project is expected to result into better productivity and marketability of the agricultural products in the project area by creating better accessibility for the beneficiaries on agricultural technologies and by establishing efficient market network. UNDP will be implementing this project in close coordination with Ministry of Agriculture, NARC and Local Government on behalf of KOICA.
This project targets to develop the capacity of key institutions and actors to mainstream comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and address gender-based violence (GBV) through policies, curriculum and training, in formal and non-formal education, to foster a safe learning environment, especially for adolescent girls and young women. The project also aims to enhance access to, participation, transition and achievement in education and functional literacy, especially for adolescent girls and young women
This project aims to build the proper system of vocational education, providing training for teachers, constructing IT building and necessary infrastructure. It is expected that the employment opportunities of the participants will increase after taking updated and more systemized trainings on electrical electronics or automobile trade. In addition, KOICA aims to empower more girls to have skilled trainings for gainful employment.
KOICA built DRC in Hetauda to support the master plan of the Nepali Government to establish e-governance for efficient governance. The objective of the DRC in Hetauda is to minimize the government data losses from natural or human induced disasters through the back-up system of DRC. The DRC also aims to harvest synergies in the information management of the Nepali Government with GIDC
